Event Details

Adv Graham Leslie (SC) will discuss the amendments to the Employment Equity Amendment Bill that are anticipated to come into effect on 1 September 2023. The amendments include the Minister of Employment and Labour's power to introduce sectoral targets that must be complied with by designated employers.

How will these sectoral targets be met? How will this impact consultation with employees and trade unions on numerical goals and targets and what will these mean for affirmative action measures? How have businesses responded and will business decisions to impose a moratorium on the employment of non-designated groups stand legal muster?

This discussion will also include, the amendments pertaining to the change in the definition of designated employer and state contracts.
